SOCIAL EMOTIONAL MINDFULNESS PROGRAM

GOAL

The goal of Embracing Families with Hope is to provide social-emotional support for the wellbeing of the whole child and to reduce classroom stress due to trauma, poverty and homelessness. The program is proven to reduce suspension rates, help with the student to teacher relationship and create a safe learning environment in the classroom. Through the practice, students learn to appreciate each other.

OBJECTIVES AND OUTCOMES

During the eight-week course, participants will learn mindfulness breathe work, yoga, and coping mechanisms for their social-emotional learning issues. After the second week, students and staff will begin to see their stress level decrease. Teachers will notice a calmness during instructional time, improved grade progression, and increased math scores.

DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES / METHODOLOGY

This course is designed for primary, secondary students and adults. Students and adults will participate weekly in a 1 hour, 8 week program, in guided meditation and yoga activities, curriculum modeled by "Breathe For Change". Each week focuses on a different theme and yoga activity.

EVALUATION

An assessment will be conducted during the first and fourth class, and a final evaluation during the eight week class.

COVID-19 RESPONSE

Embracing Families with Hope is adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines and have modified our program to ensure our participants stay safe and healthy. We are doing this by having smaller class sizes, staying six feet apart and sanitizing all yoga mats and other supplies before and after class.

We will be stronger together as we cultivate a calm and mindful school campus for your staff, students and their families.
